Online Reading: Portrait of an Artist

Artist Quote: "My early etching work represents a nostalgic illusion of my childhood fears with a longing for Western fantasy.  Later I began to develop subjects inspired by mythology and literature using washi paper and wood board." -Rieko Fujinami

This artist's work really captured my attention.  I really enjoy her color and expressive marks she uses when working. For example her piece titled "Ambivalent Indignation" has a very unique kind of mark making that seem "splotchy" and this works well for her piece. In her interview she mentioned that she works with a variety of materials, which I find interesting
